Who We Are
What Characterizes Us? We are committed to . . .
Scripture
Our services are soaked in scripture, from beginning to end, and highlighted by preaching that is emphatically exegetical, informed by cutting edge scholarship, and eminently practical.
Community
In a day of rampant isolationism and loneliness, we are seriously striving to become an authentic and loving community that is not based on similarity of race, income-level, education, or interests, but on the shared experience of God’s love and grace, a community where those who are lonely and disconnected can find unconditional love and friendship.
Theological Integrity
We are, without reserve, committed to biblical truth. We are also, without reserve, firmly rooted in the great evangelical traditions that C.S. Lewis aptly labeled “Mere Christianity.” We do not isolate ourselves to one single stream of historical evangelicalism, but relish every theological treasure regardless of its source, especially the Reformers, Remonstrants, Anabaptists, Puritans, Quakers, Classical Methodism, and our own Christian & Missionary Alliance.
Cultural Relevance
We are determined to be an articulate, credible, and persuasive witness, not just in defense of the Christian faith but also of the vast superiority of the Christian worldview over any of its competitors (including atheism, agnosticism, and postmodernism). We are unafraid to discuss the evidences and merits of other belief systems, as well as the most controversial and significant issues of the day. Indeed, we provide an open forum (Q & A) for doing so on a regular basis.
Social Justice
To be sure, we enthusiastically share the good news of the gospel with everyone who will hear it. But we are determined to serve our neighbors and community members regardless of what they believe. We do this through acts of service and the sharing of our resources, especially with the poor.
