Student Ministries

Hello my name is Steve Merchant.
I have been involved in the lives of students for over 20 years. as a high school drama coach, in the business world and as Youth Pastor. My wife Lynn and I have served in three different Alliance churches in youth and college ministries. I have been the Youth Pastor here at North Avenue Alliance Church for the past seven years.
The Student Ministry of North Avenue Alliance Church strives to create an atmosphere where students are encouraged to seek God by asking tough questions.
We offer a variety of opportunities to experience God through large meetings, small groups, special events, mission trips and through one on one relationships with our youth staff and with other students.
We meet weekly for fun times and heart challenges. We are building a relational ministry that offers students an avenue to honestly explore Christ in their lives.
Our goal for the Youth Ministry is to Seek God's Face in all that we do. Whether we are playing games, laughing at crowd breakers, eating, talking in small groups, discussing the topic for the day, studying the Bible or praying: we strive to seek God.
We have a loving staff who is committed to the Spiritual growth of each student. Please join us if you are a student in grades six through twelve. Pastor Steve

Connecting to God
Encouraging others to do the same

So speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you'll all be together in this,
no one left out, no one left behind. I know you're already doing this; just keep on doing it.
1 Thes. 5:11

Encounter

Sunday Evening Large Group sessions are dedicated to seeing and experiencing God.

We have a variety of adult workers dedicated to building relationships with students and their friends. We meet together as a group, junior and senior high, to build unity and a common mission in building an atmosphere conducive to seeking Christ. The evening begins with a time of social interation; there is a beverage and snack time, a period of crowd breakers and opening games. Then we have a teaching time focused on God in today's world. From time to time we break up into small groups by grade to discuss the evening topic.

Discipleship Hour

Discipleship hour is dedicated to those interested in learning about the Word of God as it applies to their lives. It is an interactive Bible-based class focusing on the application of the Word in our lives. Students in grades six through twelve and their families are currently invited to study the Word together. We can better impact today's families when we study the same passages and topics together.

The interactive class methods and techniques change weekly to accommodate a variety of learning styles. Drama, video, art and music are some of the techniques used.

Student Center Hang Out Nights

Come to a safe place to hang out and get to know the Youth Staff and each other better. Each Friday night will have a different theme: Movie nights, game nights, scavenger hunts, etc. There may be a small cost for pizza or snacks.
